- Aluminum Can Tabs Campaign
Here is an easy and fun way to help raise money for Hunter’s Hope. It takes very little time and effort! Next time,
and every time, before you dispose of an aluminum can with a tab, wiggle off the tab and save it. For every pound of tabs
collected, Hunter’s Hope will receive around $.35 or more from a local recycling factory. That might not seem like a
lot, but those tabs can add up quickly! Get your friends, family, and coworkers to save tabs too! Ask your place of employment
if you can place a collection container in the company lunchroom. Set a container up in your own kitchen. If your business
would like to participate, we will send you a poster and information on Krabbe Disease and other Leukodystrophies for you
to display near the container.
Another great place to collect tabs is at large gatherings, such as concerts, church or company picnics, etc. Ask local
high school football teams and cheerleading squads or other youth groups to help you collect them as well. If you live in
Western New York, you can drop your tabs off at the following locations
Hunter’s Hope Office 3859 N. Buffalo Road Orchard Park, NY 14127
If you live outside of the WNY area, you can still collect tabs. Just look up “aluminum” in the yellow pages.
Call your nearest aluminum recycling company /scrap metal dealer to ask them if they accept tabs for recycling. Some states
without a bottle deposit law only accept the whole aluminum can, and that’s OK. Just collect the cans, crush them, and
take them in for recycling. When you drop them off, be sure to ask them to write the check out to Hunter’s Hope. If
you have trouble finding a near-by recycling factory or drop-off location, call Hunter’s Hope and we will help you.
We hope you will join us with this fun way to heighten the awareness of these diseases and raise funds for a cure. Thanks
so much for your help!
